Teacher Consultants are the heart of National Writing Project! They complete a Summer Institute, sharing their personal and professional expertise with a small group of like-minded teachers. Then they take the strategies, ideas, books, skills, etc. gleaned from SI back to their schools and classrooms. But the Writing Project experience isn't over at the end of SI.
TCs are encouraged to continue their association with their NWP site by participating in workshops, and through on-line collaborations and publishing opportunities. As they write their stories - from the classroom, from their private lives, about their dreams, etc. - they enrich everyone around them.
TC News is our way of sharing what we know. The National Writing Project model of teachers teaching teachers is a tried and true methodology. Our students blog at facebook, myspace, and other social networks. Many of us do too.
The blog section here at coalfieldwriters.org is just a natural progression in technology use. It will become a comfortable online weblog (blog) as you use it.
