The 50's

I remember . . . you let me tag along
and ride the car when you went to town.

You would sit in the bus terminal
drink stale coffee and smoke
Prince Albert-that was the coolest name-and tell tall tales with
all the other old men.

When it was too cold to stand in front of the five-and-dime,and you would laugh and joke
and carry on
and have a good time.

You'd make me
promise not to tell
Mommy that you had flurted with
other women.

And you never told me that
one day I would go up
and those carefree days of being a tag along would be gone.

And you never told me that

Yes That's Me by Emily Vinson

Yes, that’s me

Look and you’ll see
My hair an untamed mess an my head

My eyes seeing everything that I can take in

My arms embracing life

My hands holding on to everything I love

My heart going out to all our miners

I’m the one that is always there

I never give up
My friends keep me laughing

I live to keep on living
I hope to always be a good person

I dream of a successful life

It’s all clear as can be
That’s positively, absolutely me

I Remember …

I remember December 12, 2009
I remember the adrenaline rushing through my body
I remember the facials, encouraging chants, and the excitement
I remember all the intense practices that just about done me in
I remember all the fans going insane as soon as we stepped on the floor
I remember the longest three minutes of my life that was over in a matter of seconds
I remember the struggling and pushing myself until my break point
I remember working as a team who wanted nothing but to win
I remember the exact feeling of all the hard work paying off

I Apologize

I'm so sorry for eating
all the delicious food.

I know that
it was for the family
and all the company coming over.

Forgive me,it smelled so good.
It was so tempting,
and yet so wor it.
